My Story

The idea for Selkirk Supply was born in the summer of 2022 when I was hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Over four and a half months on trail I lost over 35 pounds, but not for lack of trying to keep the weight on. It turns out it's incredibly hard to consume thousands of calories while hiking 20+ miles a day. My friends have always known me as a "live to eat" kind of guy, a true connoisseur of snacks. I spent my months on the trail trying just about every fuel source I could find, a dedication to food that eventually earned me the trail name "Chef". I knew that to stop my weight loss, I had to stop running a calorie deficit, so I resorted to eating jars of Biscoff cookie butter, Nutella, and Cosmic Brownies, some of the most calorie-dense "foods" I could find. I quickly realized that these calories weren't actually providing me with long-lasting energy, but rather a short burst and then a large crash. This crash is a result of your pancreas releasing too much insulin in response to the blood sugar spike, not ideal when you're trying to hike 12+ hours a day.

Beyond the caloric deficits and energy crashes, I simply grew tired of the industry staples. Whether it was the chalky texture or the repetitive flavors, Clif and RX bars just weren’t cutting it, and almost everyone I met on the trail agreed. Aptly nicknamed "Chef", I came to the conclusion that I could make something better; however, the real world soon called, and after I finished my time on the trail, I started working in consulting. Fast forward to 2025, and I realized it was the perfect time to realize my dream of starting my own snack bar business. Food has always been something I looked forward to and something that, when done right, can bring people and communities happiness. As of right now, Selkirk Supply is a one-man show. My goal with Selkirk Supply is to provide you with an extra little bit of happiness and have our bars be something you look forward to eating, whether it's out on a hike, after a gym workout, or as a meal on the go.

Founder, Selkirk Supply

Our Values

In an era where many corporations prioritize short-term margins over long-term principles, Selkirk Supply was founded with the aim to break that cycle. I grew up inspired by the pioneers, brands like Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s, who proved that a company’s success shouldn’t come at the expense of its soul. They showed us that profit and purpose aren't mutually exclusive; they fuel each other. Successful businesses are those that serve more than just their bottom line. My hope with Selkirk Supply is to create a company with values and principles that customers can feel proud in supporting.
